Hey everyone! It’s Ruth, and I’m here at our Silver Creek Clogging Dance and Movement Center in Silverton, Oregon, the home of Dance Classes that Make Kids HappyTM, and this is What’s Happening at Silver Creek Clogging for the week of October 26th.

And, yeah; happy Halloween! This is a super fun time of year. We’re gonna have a lot of fun in the studio this week and also some fun out of the studio this week.

But, before we get into all the fun stuff; this time of year is not only fun, but it’s also the time of year when we usually see a lot more colds and flus and things like that. And, because we have COVID-19 this year, that is an additional factor.

So, we have updated our COVID-19 protocols to include an outline of when your student can return to the studio, if they’ve been sick or if they’ve been in contact with somebody who is sick. So, we’re not going to go through all the details here but, you do have that in your email and you can also get that on our website at silvercreekclogging.com/covid-19 (and those are the numbers 19, okay). So, silvercreekclogging.com/covid-19.

So, just to really quickly summarize, first and foremost, if you’re sick don’t come to the studio. Okay? If you have a sore throat, if you have a cough, if you have any of the symptoms that would be similar to cold and flu/allergies, any of that. If you don’t know whether it is, it’s hard to know because there’s a lot of overlap, just don’t come to the studio. Okay.

Remember, we do have virtual class attendance that’s always an option, every single week. So, yeah, you can log into your TeacherZone dashboard and get to your class through your class link there, every week. Okay? That’s the way to go. And, again, you can find all the specific guidelines in your email and also on our website silvercreekclogging.com/COVID-19. Okay?

Please, if you have any questions get in touch with me right away and just know that we know that it’s hard. It’s really hard to join on video, especially when the rest of your class is in the studio and having a great time in the studio. So, we know that it’s a sacrifice, we know that it’s a hardship, and we really, really appreciate you guys; especially for being so honest with us, so far, about your health and for those who have stayed home to have classes virtually. We know that it’s not easy and we really, really appreciate you and your respect for and care for everyone in the studio and the others in your class, specifically.

So, thank you so much for what you do, specifically for our studio community, we really do appreciate it and we know that it’s not an easy time for anyone right now.

So, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Now… fun stuff this week in class. Yeah, Halloween costumes in class. Wear your Halloween costume in class. It’s going to be super fun. I love Halloween costumes in class. It just, I don’t know, it just brings happy energy and it’s fun to see everybody’s costumes.

It would be really great to just make sure that your costumes are not scary and that you can move in them. We don’t want anybody to get, like, tripped up on their costume or anything. So, just make sure you can move in your costume and still dance and not have it be just tripping you, so you fall when you’re clogging. Yeah, that would not be good.

But, it will be super fun to see your costumes. I’m really excited about that.

Then, on Halloween day we are going to be participating in our community trunk-or-treat that’s being hosted by the Silverton Chamber of Commerce. We will be at the First Christian church, right across the street from the studio. So, come see us in their parking lot and we will be handing out some treats. We would love to see you there, from 3:00 to 5:00, and you do have a flyer in your email that shows all of the places where people will be participating in this trunk-or-treat. Should be a good time. Socially distancing, nobody’s getting out of their cars; there’s no walk-ups, it’s just a drive-through trick-or-treat. It should be really fun.

Just one quick reminder is that, your coupon code for your recital photos expires on November 14th, so if you haven’t already gone online to get your recital photos, go do that now. And, just make sure you get those photos and if you want to buy a video just make sure you get that before your code expires. Okay?

Upcoming events.

So, next Friday is first Friday and we’re changing that. It will be first Saturday at Silver Creek Clogging and we’re gonna have our studio anniversary party. So, please keep your fingers crossed for good weather. But, we do have contingency plans in case it rains. And, just plan on the first Saturday in November, November 7th, for our studio anniversary party rescheduled. It’ll be, you know, midday, around lunchtime. We’ll have lunch and games, and it’ll be fun. So, plan for that.

Also, please plan for Saturday, November 14th. We are hosting a Discover Clogging workshop. It’s for brand new, never having been clogging before, students. And, yeah, it’ll be really great to share our love for clogging with people in the community who are interested in finding out and discovering what clogging is all about.

Please share our link silvercreekclogging.com/discover, so that they can go sign up.

We have a workshop, that workshop, in November. We also have a workshop scheduled in December and another one in January. So, we have workshops, Discover Clogging workshops, all winter long; where people can come and find out about clogging. Super, super fun.

Just a couple of reminders, also coming up, the week of November 23rd, Thanksgiving week, no classes. The studio’s going to be closed for Thanksgiving break.

Also, in December, the weeks of December 21st and December 28th (Is that right? I think so.), the studio will also be closed for winter break. So, those two weeks, of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, that the studio will be closed.

We will have an activity on New Year’s Day in the studio, so just be aware of that. That’s first Friday, so that’ll be fun.

A couple other upcoming dates to keep on your calendar.

January 16th, Saturday, that’s our winter showcase recital. So, please keep that day on your calendars. It’ll be, you know, the same kind of schedule that we usually have; with our dress rehearsal in the morning and then our recital later in the day.

And, then February, the first two weekends in February; please keep that weekend of February 6th on your calendar for competition in Portland and then the following weekend (the weekend of Friday, February 12th  and Saturday, February 13th), please keep those days on your calendar for competition in Boise.

So, we have February 6th in Portland and then February 12th and 13th in Boise.

So, just keep those dates on your calendar and we’ll keep you in the loop as deadlines for registration, and other information, as it gets closer. All right! So, again, please review the COVID-19, the new COVID-19 protocols about when to come to class.

We really want everyone to keep happy and healthy, so that we can do all this fun stuff that we have planned for the winter.

Yeah, so we just want our dancers, as many of you who can and want to join in the fun to be able to.

So, that is our wish for you.

So, stay happy, stay healthy, and remember… Happy Dancing!
