Hey everyone. It’s Ruth.

I’m here at your Silver Creek Clogging Dance and Movement Center in Silverton, Oregon. It’s the home of Dance Classes that Make Kids HappyTM.

This is What’s Happening at Silver Creek Clogging the week of March 1st.

Happy March everyone! Yeah. The weather has been so beautiful these last few days and I hope you all have been able to get out and enjoy it. It’s been lovely.

At the top of the list of announcements this week is that we are now able to have everyone in class in the studio all at once. So, the COVID protocols have changed. So, yay! Back to studio. Of course, online/virtual option is always available. Just let us know if you plan to join virtually. Otherwise, we will see everyone in studio this week.

Next, TeacherZone app. There have been some updates made to the TeacherZone app. And, super exciting about this is that, parents you now have your own unique login on the TeacherZone app. Yeah? Woohoo!

So, here are some notes regarding the update.

One, as I said before, parents you have your own login. That means you have your own parent username and password, and that parent username and password is not the same as the student username and password.

So, if you need the username for your parent login to TeacherZone, let us know. We can get you the username. If you don’t have a password or you don’t know what your password is let us know and we can help you get a reset link, so you can reset your password.

Once you’re logged into the app as a parent you will be able to view everything related to your student. You’ll be able to chat with the instructors, you’ll be able to chat with the studio, you will even be able to login to your student’s account and view their account as if you were the student. So, you can see what practice assignments they have, you can see when their next lessons are scheduled, you can see everything they’ve been chatting about. So, all of that you will be able to see from your parent login to the app.

I do want to just let you know one thing. Because now we have a separate parent login and separate student login; parents, if you would like to have your students/your children enter a separate email or phone number in the system, they can do that. The system is set up so that parents get a certain kind of notification, like no-show notifications, if the student didn’t show up for class, and then students get other kinds of notifications, like if they have a chat message or for their practice reminders, those kinds of things.

So, if you enter a separate phone or email or both for the student and parent, then parents you will only get those notifications on your phone and your email that are meant for parents – and students will only get the notifications that are meant for the students. So, if you want to do that, especially for the older students, that’s really a nice, helpful tool. And, of course parents, you can log into that app anytime and see what’s happening with your student, if you like.

Parents also, if you’re an adult student at the studio, as well as a parent of a child at the studio, you will be able to see your own student login underneath your family. So, your family/your parent, you will have one login as a parent, and then you’ll see your child or children plus your own student account. So you can manage all of those accounts from that one login. Super easy.

Please, students, update your profile pictures whenever you can – as soon as possible. I want to see some creativity out there.

I’ll give you a little video update to show you how to update your logins – uh, I’m sorry, your profile pictures and see your chats and all of that stuff. So, just a heads up.

And then, last but not least, if you are an adult student who doesn’t have any children at the studio, you do not have a parent login – you only have your student login. So, you really don’t need to worry about that, but you also can update your profile photo on the app.

So, check it out, take a look around, let us know if you have any questions. We are we are loving TeacherZone here, as a studio, and as they continue to make updates and enhancements to the system we can are loving it even more. So, we’d love to hear what you think about that.

This first Friday, which is this Friday, March 5th, we’re going to have a traditional open studio from 6:30 to 8:00pm – right here live in studio. Anyone who wants to can come and just open studio practice. The caveat to that is that, because of the COVID restrictions, we do need you to RSVP.

So, if you want to come to open studio live and in person, you must RSVP. You can do that via email, you can text to the studio, chat to us on TeacherZone.

The first five, five students to RSVP for open studio this Friday can come to the open studio. That is that.

What’s coming up? Let’s see what’s on the calendar.

So, the week of March 15th, we are gonna do wear green week. So, plan to find something fun. Last year, we had green makeup and everything. So, yeah, it’ll be wear green. I’m excited to have that kind of fun in the studio.

Then, the week of March 22nd the studio is going to be closed for Spring Break. No regular classes that week.

Of course, every first Friday (April, May, June, July and so forth), we will have a first Friday open studio and we’ll give you an update about what, if anything, we’re going to do differently for COVID safety protocols.

In May, we have two very important dates, please keep these on your calendar. May 14th and 15th: Nationals competition will be held in Salt Lake City for our competitors. Please, competitors, make sure to keep that on your calendar. Plan now. If you need any updates or information, please let us know. The deadline for enrollment will be coming up in a few weeks, so we will start passing those competition sign-up sheets out to families very soon.

The last Saturday in May, May 29th, is our all studio dress rehearsal and summer kickoff recital. I am so looking forward to this.

Somehow, it feels like that recital will be the return to normal life, somehow. But, I know that we still have some time ahead of us before that happens but, in the meantime, we will enjoy what we can and the opportunities we have to get out and perform safely as possible.

So, please remember to keep all of those dates on your calendars.

Please also let us know what you think about the TeacherZone app, if you have any questions, or if you have anything else/other questions related to the studio. We would love to hear from you, as usual.

Until then, happy dancing.
