Hey everyone. Hi, it’s Ruth. I’m here at your Silver Creek Clogging Dance and Movement Center in Silverton, Oregon. It’s the home of Dance Classes that Make Kids HappyTM.
This is April! Yeah, we are in April. Good times are ahead. So super excited and we’re gonna get right into some announcements.
Very first of all, just a quick reminder about competition for our competitors. This May 14th and 15th in Salt Lake City, just a quick update about the schedule.
As a reminder, they are currently planning to do studio blocks so all of our routines (solos, freestyle, everything) will be just in our studio block, rather than in age and skill division categories, okay? So, just a heads up about that.
Also, we found out that they will be allowing virtual entries. So, for anyone, due to COVID reasons, if you’re not able to make it to Salt Lake City we can do your solos, video those and send those in, okay?
Let’s see, oh… this week we’ve got our student choreography challenge. So, any student (of our current students here at Silver Creek Clogging) who wants to participate in this choreography challenge, you are invited. The deadline is this Friday and here’s what you have to do.
You have to do your own original choreography, anywhere from 8 to 16 counts, submit that to your instructor via the TeacherZone chat; and we will take those in, review them and we will pick a winner. And, just a heads up, the winner is going to be selected based on creativity/originality, those kinds of things, not based on your skill level. So, you can do any level. You can do novice, beginning, and intermediate, advanced. You can do any of the levels of skill. Just make sure you’re looking at your creativity, your originality, what your choreography itself is and that’s how we’re going to be picking our winning entry. And the winning entry is going to have their choreography featured in our all studio routine. Yeah? More on the all-studio routine in classes, but anyway that’s that.
And, just another reminder: students, please try to be on time for class. It’s really important to arrive on time and plan on arriving at least five minutes ahead of your scheduled time, because with the COVID check-in and check-out procedures, the instructor isn’t going to be able to leave their class to check people in if they’re late. So, just make sure you’re on time.
So, those are the main announcements for this week.
And here’s what’s coming up on the studio calendar.
We have, of course, this Friday April 9th: your all studio challenge videos are due, if you’re going to participate in that.
Next week, we’re going to have crazy socks week, so be ready for that.
And then, May 7th, and every first Friday, we will have open studio.
In other things in May, we’re going to have competition which is going gonna be super fun; we’ll have a studio t-shirt and crazy hair week coming up in May; and then, of course, on the last Saturday in May is our all studio dress rehearsal and summer kickoff recital. (I don’t know why I keep calling it the spring kickoff, we’re already in spring and now we’re going to kick off the summer.)
And summer, we have some fun stuff planned, which means that the week after recital we’re going to have post recital celebration. So, be ready for that, it’s going to be a little different than we’re used to doing. So, yep. Should be fun.
And then, the very, very following week, right after that/right after we celebrate, we’re gonna get to learning our clog down showdown routine, yeah. Super exciting. Loving the clog down showdown routine. It’s always a fun, fun, fun thing. So, that’s what’s coming up in the near future/things to keep on your calendar.
We will have the date for the clog down showdown, actual event, coming soon. But, we’re gonna start learning the routine first thing in June. It’s gonna be awesome!
So, please remember to keep those dates on the calendar.
And, also, please remember…
You are awesome, we… I really appreciate you, and thank you so much for being part of Silver Creek Clogging.
And, happy dancing.
