Hi. It’s What’s Happening at Silver Creek Clogging the week of May 31st. I’m Ruth. I’m here at your Silver Creek Clogging Dance and Movement Center in Silverton, Oregon. It’s the home of Dance Classes that Make Kids HappyTM.
We had our recital last weekend. It was so great. I just really enjoyed the support, the celebratory atmosphere there was at the recital. It was really great to see so many of you come to cheer on your dancers, to see what they’ve been working on, what they’ve accomplished over this last year. Awesome. We did take some photos backstage and in the green room, so if you want to check out those photos, they are on our Facebook page and our Instagram and Twitter and so forth. So, check that out if you get a sec and, of course, please share your photos with us. Yeah? We would love to see your photos.
And, guess what the fun is not done, As we are actually into June, we have a big week in front of us, because we’re continuing the celebration that started long before the recital began and we’re going to have that celebration in classes this week. And, there’s a lot more going on this week.
In fact, it’s too much to include in one email, so you are going to get an entirely separate email very, very soon with the details of the updated tuition structure for the studio. We’ll talk you through the details of how the new tuition program is structured and give you a little bit more information about what you can (actually a lot more information)… about what you can expect when the tuition program, full tuition program, is rolled out very soon.
This month, June, our leadership focus for the month is communication. People with great communication skills are more successful in anything they’re doing, and that includes dance as well. Because, if you’re communicating any confusion or any challenges that you may be experiencing during your dance classes, then you can help the instructors to help you. Yeah? If you can clearly communicate that to your instructors, they can help you overcome those challenges and give you some strategies for moving forward.
So, that is what we are working on in classes this month and we’ve got some exercises planned. In fact, one exercise we’re going to be doing this week, maybe even two. So, yeah, it should be a fun, fun month with communication. Really excited about that leadership focus, as we’re helping our students learn how to tap into their excellence.
Also, this week, your new class schedule is in place. We handed out the new class schedule to each student, what their new schedule was going to be. So, if you need a reminder, please let us know. You can text to the studio phone or email us and we will be happy to get you a reminder.
You can also check for that in TeacherZone, because TeacherZone has all the new schedules. Of course, we want to help your student get to their new class time on time and on the right day, so please let us know if you have any questions.
This week in classes we have a couple of things. The most fun thing, I think, is our post-recital celebration. So, we are going to keep riding that high that we all feel right after the performance and we’re gonna celebrate.
So, during your student’s first class period of this week, we’re gonna take some time to just relax have a little fun and celebrate after our big recital weekend. We are going to be handing out some post-recital medals. We have some activities, some games, student participation. It should be fun. It is different than we normally do, so just a little bit more celebratory and I’m really excited about it, and I can’t wait to see how our students feel about this little celebration that we’re going to have.
Also, this week, we will be conducting our very, very first student evaluations. So, of course we have done informal feedback in the past, especially as part of our dance and dream sessions every year. Now we’re just formalizing that with our twice a year student evaluations.
A quick note, I just noticed that the youth student program overview that we handed out in classes gave the wrong dates. It said that we were going to do the evaluation evaluations in July and January. Those were the wrong six months. We’re moving those up to June and December. That’s where it should have been and so I apologize for that typo. But, that’s where we are and we are going to conduct those very first formal student evaluations this week.
So, what we would like to do is have you set aside time (this is for youth students and your parents), set aside time to come to your student’s class the very last 10 to 15 minutes, so that we can discuss and review that student progress with you, talk to you about what their strengths are, what we think they can focus on to improve in the future, and also where we think your student is headed/how they see them growing with us over the long term. So, please keep that in mind for your students this week at classes.
Coming up on the studio calendar, this Friday, June 4th, is first Friday open studio. If you would like to come, just shoot us an RSVP by Thursday evening.
Next week, June 7th, the week of June 7th, in classes we’re going to start learning our clog down showdown. It’s going to be awesome.
We are going to dedicate one class period of the week towards learning the clog down showdown, and we’ll dedicate the other class period to some other fun activities, and our clog down showdown event will be held on Friday, July 16th. So, please keep that date on your calendars. Plan to bring the family, have a little picnic, and watch your cloggers in their clog down showdown. That’s always a really fun event. It’s, actually, I think, probably one of our most fun events of the year.
Please remember to keep those dates on your calendars. Please keep an eye out for information about our new tuition structure, to come into your email box very soon.
And, also, just a quick note we are going to be starting to do our weekly updates one day earlier. So, normally we send out your email Monday night and then post the videos and the podcasts on Tuesdays. We’re going to just shift that, so Sunday evening your email will be scheduled to be sent to your inbox, on Sunday evening, and then you’ll see the video and podcast pop up on Monday. That shift, that’s coming next week so look for that and happy dancing.
