Hey, It’s What’s Happening at Silver Creek Clogging the week of October 11th. I’m Ruth. I’m here at your Silver Creek Clogging Dance and Movement Center in Silverton, Oregon.
Our Tapping into ExcellenceTM leadership focus for the month of October is on loyalty. All of our class chats this month are focused on that topic.
And, one of the important parts of loyalty is that, loyalty is not the same as blind obedience. It is not. Loyalty means doing your best to support the people, the groups, the ideas that you have committed to; so that you can help them do their, and be their, best. Yeah?
So, some thoughts for how you can reinforce that idea for yourself this month is: one, focus on loyalty to the studio by doing your best to practice in a way that would give someone a really positive idea about the studio, if they were to see you acting in that way.
Another thing, to be loyal to a friendship is: to strengthen that friendship by taking some extra time to do some activities or events or just spend some time with that particular friend, so that you can strengthen that friendship a little bit.
Or, some idea about reinforcing this through loyalty to your family is, to do something to serve a family member; like helping with a chore, or expressing your love for them in some way.
So, those are ways that you can express your loyalty for the people, the ideas, or the groups that you’ve committed to; to help them to be their very best.
So, we’ve given you some ideas for how to, kind of, start thinking about that and maybe you’ll have your own idea as well. So, I can’t wait to hear what you’ve done / how you’re deciding to express your loyalty for a group, a person, or an idea that you have committed yourself to.
Here we go… This week, this week (yay!), Saturday is our studio anniversary party. We have been in this studio (well, we will have been, by this Saturday, in the studio) for three years and we’re gonna celebrate.
So, all of the information is in your email. Just a really quick note: this is for students and staff only. This is not a family event, it’s just a student and a staff event. And, all the food and all the materials for all the activities will be provided by Silver Creek Clogging.
You’re going to want to make sure to dress appropriately, because our activities are going to be outside for the most part and we’re going to be making a tie-dye project so, you’re going to want to dress appropriately for both the weather and for the tie-dye project. So, just a heads up on that.
Please, students, this week (if you haven’t already) RSVP to your instructor, to let them know whether you will be attending and we will, then, look forward to seeing everybody on Saturday
What’s coming up on the calendar and studio events? Of course, this Saturday, October 16th is our studio anniversary party.
Next Saturday, October 23rd, tentatively, we have a performance scheduled at the Silverton farmers market. So, please put that on your calendars. We’ll start talking about that in classes this week, as well, to see who can join for that.
And then, the week of October 25th is, wear your non-scary, dance friendly Halloween costume to class. Love it.
The week of Thanksgiving, we have no classes Wednesday through Saturday. Please note, Monday and Tuesday classes will be held that week but, Wednesday, the 24th, through Saturday, the 27th, no classes.
And then, the week of December 12th is, wear your ugly holiday shirt to class. You could even wear some socks or anything else that might seem fun / holiday-ish; that would be really fun.
And then, next year – Saturday, January 22nd is our winter showcase dress rehearsal and recital.
And, Saturday, June 4th is our summer kickoff dress rehearsal and recital.
Just make sure to put those on your calendars and we still have the Davenport House on our calendar.
So, yeah, that’s what to look forward to here at Silver Creek Clogging. We are so grateful that you are part of our studio community, and we’re excited to continue to focus our leadership discussions this month on the topic of loyalty, and we’ll see you in class. Until then, happy dancing.
