Hey, it’s what’s happening at Silver Creek Clogging the week of October 25th. I’m Ruth. I’m here at your Silver Creek Clogging dance and movement center in Silverton, Oregon.

It’s the last week of October. Can you believe it?  Woo, time flies when you’re having fun.

And, because it’s the last week of the month, that means we are wrapping up our Tapping into ExcellenceTM leadership focus on loyalty this week. So, yeah, all month long we have been exploring the leadership principle of loyalty, and what it means to be loyal to a person, an idea, or a group. And, we would love to hear from you what new insights you have gained this month, as we’ve been talking about loyalty. We would love to hear if you’ve been noticing any difference in your student’s behavior this month, as we’ve been talking about loyalty.

Yeah, let us know. Let us know what you have noticed and what you have experienced this month, as a result of our conversations about loyalty in classes. And, to kind of finish up our month-long focus on loyalty, I want to share this quote by Stephen Covey.

Stephen Covey said, “Be loyal to those who are not present. In doing so, you build the trust of those who are present.” Deep; that’s a deep one. Remember that; super important.

So, this week in classes, we are going to wear our dance friendly, non-scary Halloween costumes to class. I, of course, am gonna wear one, to help me get into the Halloween spirit and I would love for you to join me. Wear something fun; a little goofy hat, a fun t-shirt, even Halloween socks. Let’s just perk up ourselves, get into the Halloween spirit. It should be fun.

And, along those lines, for Halloween this year, we are inviting you to give the treat of a free two-week intro on us.

So, if you love dancing with us as much as we love dancing with you, then you’re invited to give a two-week intro to someone you think might be a good addition to our studio community.

So, this week, all week long in classes, instructors are going to be handing out little bookmark passes (just little tiny bookmarks) and you can give those out as a treat to somebody that you think might want to join us. You can take as many of those bookmarks as you want, you can give them out to as many people as you want as a special treat to your family and friends this Halloween season.

And, guess what? It’s going to be a kick and a treat all in one. See what I did there? Yeah? Anyway, that’s what we’ll be doing all week in classes this week. So, ask your instructor and your instructor will give you some. But you can always ask for more, if you don’t get as many as you need. Because, we’re going to have these out for Halloween.

So, the Silverton’s farmer’s market. Yay! We have been working on that for so long and it’s finally happening. This winter, we’re going to be to be participating in the Silverton farmers market on one Saturday each month, starting November and ending in May. And, for November, our day that we’re going to be participating is November 6th; just a couple of weeks away, so please put that on your calendar. We’ll be doing little performances throughout the market and so just be prepped if you want to come dance and get in on the fun, that will be super fun. And, we’ll line up all the additional dates very soon and then you can start prepping and planning for those dates that you can join us.

One of our goals for participating in the market this year is to provide our students with an opportunity to raise funds for competition. So, what we’re doing is allowing our students to make crafts to sell at our market booth, as a way to raise money for competition.

So, students, here’s what you should do… start thinking now about what you can make or contribute to the market booth, to sell to raise funds for your competition fees and such, all right?

Also, parents, please help your students brainstorm ideas of things that they can make to sell at the market booth, and instructors will also be talking with students to kind of help them come up with ideas. And, hopefully, by November 6th we’ll have some things that we can display and sell to benefit our students, to help pay their way for competition this this coming competition season. So, that will be really awesome.

So, what’s on the calendar and upcoming events. Of course, next week, wear your dance friendly, non-scary Halloween costume to class.

Saturday, November 6th, as we talked about, we’re gonna perform at the Silverton farmers market; so please make a note of that.

Thanksgiving week, we’re taking a break Wednesday through Saturday that week. Classes will only be Monday and Tuesday the week of Thanksgiving.

And, then, the week of December 12th, wear your ugly/fun/whatever holiday shirt to class. I love dressing up to class, it’s just fun.

Anyway, and then, next year we have some performances. First of all, we have a performance on Saturday, January 22nd. that’s our winter showcase performance. It’s a super relaxed, super laid back, super low-key performance. Who knows, we maybe even this year will be doing it outside. So, just prepare for that and as we have all of the details on location and such, we will let you know.

And then, Saturday, June 4th we will be performing in the theater; this is our theater recital, at the Historic Grand theater in Salem. And, so, we can plan on that venue for that.

And, yeah that’s what’s on the calendar.

Please remember that the Davenport House performance will be coming at some point in the future, and keep all of those dates and all of those events on your calendar.

Please talk with your student about loyalty and let us know. We would love to hear what you’ve learned/what you’ve seen in your student in positive behaviors this month, as a result of our conversations about loyalty in the classroom. And, we will see you in class with Halloween costumes on. Until then, happy dancing.
